Executive Order: “Securing America’s Defense Supply Chains and Ensuring Domestic Acquisition of Critical Materials”

A few weeks ago the White House issued this Executive Order reiterating a shift to a more transparent, “domestic and allied sourcing” supply chain when it comes to defense.
While the order itself does not impose economy-wide tariffs or quotas, its defense demand can reshape markets for magnets and specialty metals, and its traceability standards may become a template for civilian procurement in aerospace, semiconductors, energy, and infrastructure.
There is a clear policy shift in place ushered in by the “Strengthening Customs Enforcement” EO as well as updates to other policies such as Section 232.
Importers should be well underway, if not already able to provide clear documentation of their supply chains and partners.
